Hope Cove

There are 2 sandy beaches in Hope Cove.

Mouthwell (‘waterfall’) beach is closed to dogs from 1st May to 30th September between 10am and 7pm.

Harbour (‘boat’) beach allows dogs on leads all year.

Hire a sea kayak or paddle board on Harbour beach.

And within easy reach of Hope Cove -

Bolt Tail - walk up the tail (viewed from the deck) for wonderful sea views, then loop round to return through the thatched cottages in Inner Hope.

South Milton Sands - turn right at Mouthwell beach and follow the coastal path North to find this beach with awesome cafe and yummy food.

Salcombe - renowned, picturesque harbour with lots of shops, eateries, and boat hire.

Kingsbridge - set on the estuary with lots of independent shops, cafes, and a weekend market in the square, as well as supermarkets.

Burgh Island - walk across the beach at low tide, or get the sea tractor at high tide, and walk up the hill for fab views before a snack in the pub.

Woodlands theme park with rides, flumes, and animal park.

Paignton Zoo - a pleasant setting and meandering walk from which to view all manner of animals from red pandas to cheetah, giraffe to crocodile.

Splashdown Quaywest - water slides galore for a sunny day.

Hope and Anchor Inn - pub with great food and a friendly welcome, dogs included. We’ve always enjoyed the Fish of the Day.

The Cove - great selection of drinks at this bar. Dining downstairs or wood-fired pizza upstairs on the balcony with wonderful views. Live sport and weekly music events.

Lobster Pods - hire well in advance to eat and drink in these weather proof pods on the hillside above Harbour beach.

Hope Cove House - worth heading here for their BBQ’s on the patio at lunch.

Beach House, South Milton Sands - book early if you want to sit inside or sample the smaller takeaway menu whilst enjoying the beach.

Rockbox - pop up summer eatery with awesome chicken burgers and pizza’s in a couple of locations including South Milton Sands and near the Bantham/Churchstow roundabout where they have bands playing sometimes too.

Crabshell Inn, Kingsbridge - delicious food with lovely estuary views and DJ nights in the summer. The seafood sharing platter for 2 is a feast!

Crab Shed, Salcombe - our choice for fresh crab sandwiches, landed and cooked right here.
